Birth Rego# MYERS Benjamin 3055/1884 Hannah SYDNEY-No Father Listed-


Benjamin first joined up in AIF in 1919 his date of birth is given as 9th September 1884 and his religion is Jewish.

Benjamin Myers was born to Hannah Myers some 18 months before she married Laurence Parker. Benjamin Myers birth is found on New South Wales Australia's BDM's under Rego#3055/1884 and lists the Mother as Hannah Myers but no Father is listed.

It is supposed that Benjamin's Father was Jacob Lyons, re the link below.

Affiliation Case

At the Central Police Court, on Friday, before Mr. T. K. Abbott, S.M., a young man named Jacob Lyons, described as a mate, was charged with neglecting to contribute towards the support of his illegitimate child. Hannah Myers deposed that she had only met tho defendant on one occasion, and that was on the 11th of November last, when defendant came the defendant came to her father's house.Witness here detailed the circumstances under which defendant seduced her. It was the first and only occasion he had done so.

The child was born on August 11 last 1884. Abraham Myers, father of the complainant,gave evidence to the effect that he had interviewed the defendant about the state his Daughter was in before the child was born, and the defendant then promised to marry the girl.

Witness said that he would give him sufficient money to get married by the registrar, and afterwards they could be married at the Synagogue. Defendant I was a dealer in the markets. Witness was cross-examined at some length by Mr. Oliver. Jacob Lyons deposed that he was the defendant in the case. He knows the complainant and had made her acquaintance about three years ago. He never kept company with her. It was not true, as stated by complainant, that he seduced her on tine 11th of November last in' her father's house. The last witness (complainant's father) had told Lyons, that the best thing he could do would be to marry the girl in order to save all bother.

' By Mr. Levien : Had seen complainant come out of & brothel in Wexford street ; but did not know anything against the girl's character. Mr. Abbott considered the case proved, and ordered that defendant should pay 10s weekly towards the support of the child, £2 2s professional costs, and find sureties for the due payment of the amount.

It would appear that he was adopted by Laurence (Lewis) Parker, and also changed his middle name to Abraham.

Parker, of Commonwealth-street, took place at the residence of the bride's mother, "Irene," 487 Crown-street, on Wednesday, January 26. The ceremony was performed by Rev. A. D. Wolinski in the presence of a number of relatives and friends The bride was dressed in her mother's wedding gown and wore a wreath and veil kindly lent by her aunt. The bridesmaids were the Misses Vera and Hazel Levi, sisters of the bride, who wore Empire frocks of cream and navy striped voiles. The presents were numerous and costly.

You've completely ignored Benjamin Joseph MYERS, son of Joseph MYERS & Eva Rebecca LEVY, b. 1909, d. 1969, and combined all his details with those of his cousin, Benjamin Abraham MYERS > PARKER, b. 1884, d. 1958
