Biography
Death record not yet found. We know her father's name from her marriage record, and we know her approximate age from various records such as children's marriages (which also show that she was living as late as 1824 and 1829, which also agree with the marriage record that she was born in Rillaar. This leads only to one baptism where the parents names are the same as her neighbours in the 1796 census.

Children, based on 19th century index:
- Maria Anna born 10 Apr 1781 at 6 in the morning, and baptised same day. Church record. Father is ex Thielt, and signs Hendericus. Mother from Rillaar (hujus). Both parents live in Rillaar. The godparents are Michael Willems from Tielt St Martin (who signs Michiel), and Maria Anna Hulsen "ex aterbeeck" (neighbouring Haterbeek in Aarschot, where the mother's father's mother was from).
- Jan Baptista (Joannes Baptista) born 21 May 1783 at 3 in the night, and baptized the same day. Church record. Parents are again ex Tielt St Martin and ex Rillaar. Godparents are Joannes Cornelius Nys and Anna Barbara Van Schauijbroek, both from Rillaar.
- Petrus born 25 Aug 1785, about 8 in the evening. Church record. Father again ex Tielt St Martin, but now of Rillaar. Godparents Petrus Peeters and Anna Gertrudis Willems.
- Joanna Catharina born 18 Dec 1786 about 9 in the evening in Rillaar and baptized next day. Same remarks about origins of parents. Church record. Godparents Petrus Peeters and Joanna Catharina De Keijser.
- Elisabeth born 16 Jun 1789 around 7 in the morning. Church record (also for sister). Godparents Jacobus Nijs and Anna Elisabetha Nijs. Origins of parents marked again as previously.
- Anna Catharina born on the same day as Elisabetha 16 June 1789 (see previous), but around 6 in the evening, and then baptized same day "sub conditione" (so probably of doubtful health). Godparents Philippus Thijs and Anna Elisabetha Mertens.
- Maria Theresia born 9 Apr 1792, at 11 in the night. Church record. Godparents Jacobus Nijs and Maria Theresia Van Vlasselaer.
- Jacobus born 1 Jun 1794 and baptized next day. Church record. Godparents Jacobus Nijs and "Amaria" Theresia van Vlasselaer.
- Petrus 22 Sep 1798? Church record of birth. Civil act is dated 12 Floréal Year VII, which would convert to 1 May 1799. Father 55, born Tielt St Martin, cultivateur. Mother 46, born Rillaar. Witnesses Guillaume Casimir Goethuys and Andre Vranken.
- Anne Marie born 7 prairial Year IX Civil act. Witnesses at civil registration Pierre Joseph Bruyninckx and Pierre Vrancken.
The youngest children apparently missed being put into the old French-made parish register index but at least some were recorded in the French civil act system.[1]
Her baptism was 18 December 1756.[2] The godparents were Guilielmus (Willem) Mertens and Elisabetha Landewijckes.
The marriage record says her husband was "ex Thilt St Martin", and his name is spelled as Henricus and Hendericus. Both he and his wife were described as minors (minorennsis) living with their parents in Rillaar. Their fathers gave consent and are named as Franciscus (or Francis Willems) and Henricus Nijs.[3]
The French Census of 1796 says moved 1781, 15 years earlier, and had 2 children. It says he was 45 (implying a birth year of about 1751, which would be wrong). His wife's parents seem to have been living with them. [4]
