Gordon Edward Noel was born on 5 Feb 1894 in Winchester, Clark, Kentucky, United States, son of William A Noel (1858 - 1927) and Martha Elizabeth (Green) Noel (1868 - 1940).
His sister was Pearl Ellen (Noel) Hinthorn (1893 - 1975).
Marriage and Family
Gordon married Clara Susan Hinthorn (1896 - 1983) on 12 Oct 1914 in Lexington, Fayette, Kentucky.
Their marriage was said to have been part a triple ceremony. As the Lexington Unit Journal posted on 15 Oct 1914, when the Rev. Oceola McNemar, of El Paso, Illinois, was called at noon, on Monday, October 12, 1914 to the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Noel to perform a double marriage ceremony, he found a third couple ready to be united in the bonds on matrimony, thus making it a rare triple ceremony.
The contracting parties were William Franklin Hinthorn (abt.1891-1969) and Pearl Ellen (Noel) Hinthorn (1893-1975), Gordon Noel and Carrie (Hinthorn) Noel (1896-1983) and John Hinthorn and Neola Tones. William Hinthorn and sister, Carrie, were the children of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hinthorn; John Hinthorn, a cousin to both William and Carrie Hinthorn, was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hinthorn. Miss Tones was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Tones, who were both deceased.

Gordon registered for the draft in Poweshiek, Iowa, on June 5, 1917. He is listed as being of medium height with a slender build. He has grey eyes and black hair.[1]

Gordon registered for the draft in 1942 in Mackinaw, Tazewell, Illinois.[2]
Death
Gordon died on 11 Jul 1977 in Pekin, Tazewell, Illinois aged 83.[3]
Obituary
Gordon E. Noel, 83. of Mackinaw died at 1:50 p.m. Monday at Pekin Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient one day. His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Haensel Funeral Home, the Rev. Kenneth Graham officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Washington. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 5, 1894, in Winchester, Ky., a son of William and Martha Green Noel. He married Carrie Hinthorn Oct. 12, 1914, in Lexington. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Helen Williams, El Paso, and Mrs. Violet Elkin. 504 S. Denver, Bloomington; three sons, Clarence and Omer, both of Mackinaw, and Loren, South Pekin; a sister, Mrs. Sophie Clark, Bloomington; a brother, Howard, El Paso; eight grandchildren, and 10 greatgrandchildren.
Three brothers, a sister and a grandchild preceded him in death.
Mr. Noel was a retired employe of Illinois Terminal Railroad.
