Biography

Birth

George was born about 1565, probably in England.

Occupation

A Giorgius Norcross was appointed as curate in 1604 for Publow, Somerset, 6.5 miles from Priston, Somerset, England, where his children were baptized.[1] He likely remained in the position until 1616 when Johannes Palmer was appointed for the same position.[2]

Marriage

He was probably married before 1588, when his first known son was born. No records of that marriage have been found to date and his children's baptism records do not offer the mother's name. So the identity of that possible first wife is still unknown. A George Norcross married Als (Alison, Alice?) Frankland in 1608 in Priston, Somerset, England.[3] If it was the same George, it could have been his second marriage.

  1. Jeremiah, bap. 1588, Priston, Somerset, England; d. 1656, Little Walsigham, Norfolk, England.[4][5][6]
  2. Martha, bap. 1591, Priston, Somerset, England.[7]
  3. Alexander, bap. 1594, Priston, Somerset, England; d. 1609 in Priston, Somerset, England.[8][9]

I'm in awe of the amazing work and collaboration on this profile. I find a ton of associations, but wonder if we have found the glue.
Do we have any direct evidence linking the adult, Jeremy--who immigrated to New England and then returned to England--with the now linked father, George? Ala, have we discovered any direct evidence that the "Jeremie Norcrosse on 5 May 1588 at All Saints, Priston, Somerset, England" is the same person who immigrated to New England?
I adopted George's orphaned profile. It does not seem we were able to follow him to the discovery of his death or probate.
There is so much work here. My apologies if I have overlooked what should have been obvious.
