Biography

Mary was born in 1867.

Mary O'Donnell was born in County Cork, Ireland, March 1867. She was a school teacher, which was interesting, because at that time, many in Ireland were not allowed to have an education.

Mary O'Donnell was widowed when she married Peter, and had 3 children: Bill, Kit (Catherine), and Louise. These children shared the Maxwell name but were not Peter's natural children.

Bill married Louise, had two daughters Catherine and Louise. Catherine was very smart, and awarded a scholarship to Wellesley. Bill was one of the founders of the New Rochelle AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) Chapter.

Louise never married. She lived mostly in New York City.

Kit (or Katherine) married Tommy Gallagher, and had 2 sons, Tommy and Billy. They lived in Port Chester, New York. Tommy was a fireman. The Peter Richard Maxwell family used to spend weekends in Watertown visiting Schillare relatives and on their return would stop to visit the Maxwell side - Aunt Kit, Uncle John, and Uncle Bill.

Mary O'Donnell Maxwell lived with the Peter Richard Maxwell's when Ruth was 4 years old. She died in Watertown, Litchfield County, Connecticut, in 1926. Mom thinks she is also buried in Winsted, Connecticut.
