He worked for New Zealand Railways; during World War I he served as a Private, New Zealand Army, prior to enlistment he worked as a cleaner; of Ponsonby, Auckland, New Zealand. He received the Victory Medal and the British War Medal.
He served in World War I, New Zealand Army, 9th Reinforcements, Service No 12/3769; residence: Mrs E. Lynch (mother), 68 Williamson Avenue, Ponsonby, Auckland.
In 1922 he married Winifred Gladys Frances Sellwood, with issue two daughters.
He died on 18 November 1966.
