Biography
Johannes Petrus Oosthuijzen was born on 10 October 1808 and baptised 13 April 1809 in Swellendam, Cabo de Goede Hoop (Cape of Good Hope) [South Africa], son of Willem Jacobus (Oosthùijsen) Oosthuizen (bef.1774-) and Anna Regina (Saayman) Oosthuizen (bef.1778-).[1]
Research Notes
- His baptism record lists his father as "Johannes Petrus Oosthuijsen", which seems to have been incorrect as his mother married "Willem Jacobus Oosthuijsen". The SAG Registers lists him as the 5th child of "Willem Jacobus". Laubscher-282 05:21, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
- Residence on the baptism is noted to be a farm named "Karmelhoutekraal" near the "Klein (small) Palmiet" river.
