Biography

Martin was born in Sandholme, Yorkshire, England, and was baptised nearby in Eastrington in 1842. He was the son of William Overend and Ann Haldenby.^[1] Martin lived in Sandholme with his family, who were farmers.^[2][3]

Martin married in 1865.^[4] His wife died,^{[citation needed]} and Martin lived with his mother in 1871 when he worked as a "jobber."^[5]

Martin married Sarah Catherine Parkinson in 1876 in Hull, Yorkshire.^[6][7] By 1881 the couple had settled in Spaldington, Yorkshire, where Martin farmed 178 acres of land and employed one boy.^[8][9][10]

Martin died in 1908 in Brind, Yorkshire.^[11]
