He married Eliza Leaworthy Brigham on 9 September 1850, in Portage, Ohio, United States. They were the parents of at least 1 daughter. He lived in Wisconsin, United States in 1870 and Oakland, Garrett, Maryland, United States in 1880. He died on 15 April 1905, in Washington, District of Columbia, United States, at the age of 79, and was buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, United States.
