Margaret Ann Parker was born on the 30th of December, 1865, in Streetlam Danby Wiske, North Yorkshire, England. Her parents were Joseph Parker and his wife, Elizabeth Dixon Parker. Margaret Ann was baptised on 4 Feb 1866 in Yafforth, Yorkshire, England.[1]
In the 1871 census Margaret (age 5), Farmers Daughter, was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Parker in Danby Wiske, Yorkshire, England. There were two older children in the household as well.[2]

In the 1881 census Margaret Ann (age 15), Farmers Daughter, was the unmarried daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Parker in Whorlton, Yorkshire North Riding, England. Margaret Ann's two older siblings were still at home, and there were two other adults in the household. One was James Longstaff, who was likely the uncle of Joseph Parker; the other was Robert Dixon, who was probably related to Elizabeth Dixon Parker.[3]

Margaret Ann (age 19), daughter of Joseph Parker, married Jonathan Ainsley (age 21) on 11 Nov 1884 in Faceby, Yorkshire, England.[4]
Margaret Ann gave birth to four children:
1) Lilly in Faceby, North Yorkshire, England
2) John Joseph, also in Yorkshire, England, in 1887
3) William George in California in 1889
4) An unnamed baby who only lived about ten hours, in Rock Island, Illinois, USA, on 4 Oct 1890.
John Joseph died of chronic bronchitis on the 30th of May, 1890, shortly after the family moved to Rock Island, Illinois. He was buried in a pauper's grave (Potter's Field) in Chippiannock Cemetery. The unnamed baby, who died of strangulation later that same year, was buried on top of John Joseph.
Margaret Ann died of blood poisoning six days after giving birth to the baby who died. She was also buried in an unmarked grave in the Potter's Field in Chippiannock Cemetery.

After my father died in 2016, my mother and I worked with the cemetery staff to locate the burial spot of John Joseph and the unnamed baby. My daughter, Rebecca Coatney, helped us design a gravestone for them.
