Samuel Joseph Parrish was born in 1816. He was the son of Samuel Parrish and Elizabeth Ledbetter. He served with the Confederacy in the Civil with the Georgia 4th Cavalry (State Guards). May of 1863 he fought in the Battle of Chattanooga/Chickamauga Campaign. On Nov 23, 1863 He fought in the Battle of Orchard Knob, where he was shot and killed. According to the Historical Society of Gwinnett County he was buried in a mass grave at Orchard Knob in 1863, but his son later had a stone made for him.
Samuel was born about 1818. He passed away about 1863.
