Biography

Elizabeth D. (Pear) Collins was born on 16 Aug 1861 in Cambridgeshire, England, United Kingdom.

Elizabeth (~26) married Oscar M. Collins (~30) (1857 - 1943) in 1888. They had the following known children:

  1. Lloyd E. Collins (1889-1907)
  2. Monona (Collins) Armstrong (1891-1932)
  3. Irma Doloores Collins (1892-1990)
  4. Ralph Ernest Collins (1893-1979)
  5. Niles Bruce Collins (1896-1961)

Elizabeth died on 9 Jun 1904 in Canadian, Oklahoma, United States aged 42, and was buried at El Reno Cemetery, El Reno, Canadian County, Oklahoma.[1]

Elizabeth Pearl Collins was born in England, August 16, 1860, came with her parents to America in 1866 and lived near Brownsburg, Indiana, until 1884, when she moved with her parents to Paris, Illinois.
She was married to Oscar M. Collins, September 12, 1888. She with her husband and family moved to Union City, O.T., in 1901, where she has since resided until her death, 8 o'clock p.m., Wednesday, June 8, 1904; her age being 43 years, 9 months and 22 days.
She was the mother of six children, three sons and three daughters, the youngest child being deceased. Her husband and five children survive her also a father, three brothers and four sisters grieve her loss.
She gave her heart to Jesus in early childhood and was a member of the Christian church until coming to Union City, when she with her husband and two daughters joined the M.E. church.
Her life was that of a beautiful, lovely Christian character. She died trusting in and praising her Saviour, passing away in a sweet sleep without a struggle.
The funeral services were held at the residence, one mile north and one-half mile east of Union City. The funeral sermon was preached by her pastor, Rev. D.W. Keller, from the text, 2 Cor. 5-1: "We know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands eternal in the heavens."
A large procession followed to the beautiful El Reno cemetery where her body was laid to rest waiting the general resurrection.
