Biography

Joseph Peck was the son of Winchester Peck and Mary (Mitchel) Peck, born 11 December 1750.^[1]

He settled in Providence, Rhode Island, where he operated a store. His store was burned during the great fire in 1800. He rebuilt on the same site, on the east side of South Main Street between Star and Power Streets. In 1868, Ira Ballou Peck wrote that the replacement building, which was built from brick, was still standing. ^[2]

Joseph married Sarah Hacker, daughter of Joshua Hacker of Newport, Rhode Island. Three daughters and a son were born to the marriage.^[3]

Joseph Peck died in Providence. ^[4]
