Emmanuel Ignatius Persilver was born on February 27, 1854 and baptised 22 July 1854, (baptism sponsors Octave Altazin and Mary Huncar) in East Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States, son of son of Spanish immigrant Albert Antoine Persilver (1820–1870) and Rosalie Lorenza Broussard (1831–1880).[1]

In the 1870 census Manuel (age 16), was working in a shop and living with John Schroeder and his family in Baton Rouge Ward 1, East Baton Rouge, Louisiana.[2]

Manuel (23) married Marguerite Josephine Daigle (17) (born on July 24, 1860 in Baton Rouge. East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana; daughter of Jean Baptiste Clemile Daigle and Carmelite Anastasia (Hernandez) Daigle) on August 27, 1877 in Iberville.[3] Their children were:

  • Emmanuel Anthony Persilver (1880–1907) born 11 August 1880, baptised 18 December 1880, sponsors Casimire Pusalvere and Victoria Gamba.[4]
  • Margaret Josephine Persilver (1885–1965)born 18 November, 1885 baptised 6 June, 1887.[5][6]
  • William Immanuel Persilver born 3 November 1889, died in 1918 flu epidemic.[7]
  • August Persilver born 1880 died (buried in New Orleans, LA. by Odd Fellows, never married.[8]
  • Pauline Persilver (1891–1918) born September 1891 in Bayou Sorrel, Louisiana, died in 1918 flu epidemic.

In the 1880 census Manuel Persilver (age 25), S-laborer, lived with with his wife Margeritte (age 20) in the home of his mother-in-law Carmalite Daygo (age 60) in Iberville, Louisiana, United States. Carmelite's sons Paul (age 25), Manuel (age 21), Clemille (age 18), and Martinez (age 17) also lived in the household. Carmelite's parents Joseph Antoine Hernandez and Josephine Ramirez were immigrants from the Canary Islands, brought to Louisiana by Governor Bernardo Galvez to settle Louisiana.[12]

In the 1900 census, Perasilba (age 47) was living with wife Margarette (age 41) son Manuel (age 21), daughter Pauline (age 9), son Robert (age 3), in Ward 8, Iberville, Louisiana, United States.[13]

Manuel commited suicide 2 August 1907.

Plaquemine, Aug. 2 - Manuel Pusselver, a well-known and popular citizen of this paish living in Bayou Sorrel, committed suicide this morning by shootings himself with a pistol. He was a member of the local lodge of the Ancient Order of United Workmen.[14]

In the 1910 census Margaret (age 49) is the widowed head of household with son Robert (age 12) and son James (age 8) Police Jury Ward 8, Iberville, Louisiana, United States.[15][16]
