Francis Pousalvert was born in 1842 in West Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States, son of Antonio Persilver (1820–<1870) and his first wife Mary Bond.^[1]

Francis married Marie Louise Laurenza Bernier, born 30 August 1832, daughter of Martin Bernie and Marguerite Domilite GautreauxFrances, widow of Manuel Acosta on 26 March 1868.^[2]Their children were:
