Marie Petitpas was born on 6 Nov 1865 and baptized on 3 Dec 1865 in Cocagne, New Brunswick, the daughter of Jean Petitpas and Apolline Robichaud.^[1][2] Her godparents were Amable Surette and Marguerite Poirier.

In the 1871 census Marie, age 5, was in Dundas, Kent, New Brunswick with her parents, siblings, uncle and aunt, and her grandparents.^[3] In the 1881 census Marie, age 15, was listed with her parents and siblings in Dundas, Kent, New Brunswick.^[4] In the 1891 census Marie, age 25, was listed with her parents and siblings in Dundas, Kent, New Brunswick.^[5]

Marie, age 25, married Eustache Després, age 28, son of Silvain Després and Victoire Martin, on 31 Aug 1891 in Cocagne.^[6][7]
