Biography

David Burgess Phelps b. 23 Mar 1837 Morgan Co, IL[1]d. 10 Feb 1905 at 1009 Campbell Av, Kansas City, Jackson Co, MO[2] bur. Rose Hill Cem, Hebron, Thayer Co, NB[3] s/o George Phelps and Lydia Phelps; m. 12 Mar 1861 Mason Co, IL[4] Mary Melissa Turner[1] b. 1843 d. 1917; served with Co. D of the 85th IL Infantry during the Civil War per list of veteran burials in Nebraska.[3]

D. B. Phelps. --- HEBRON, Neb., Feb. 14. (Special.) D. B. Phelps died last night in a hospital at Kansas City. Mr. Phelps was 67 years old. Two years ago he was taken by Dr. Squire, his family physician, to Kansas City for medical treatment. His ailment was of too long standing for relief. Mr. Phelps leaves an Invalid wife, son and daughter, Mrs. Ingersole of Hebron and Eugene, attending William Jewell college at Liberty, Mo. Mr. Phelps was one of the best known insurance adjusters of the west and known all over the state. He was a deacon In the Baptist church. As a citizen he will be missed.[5]
