Biography

Charles was born in 1839. His birth was registered in the St. Ives district in the December Quarter of 1839.^[1] He grew up in Somersham where his father was a church sexton. In 1841 and 1851 his family was living on High Street.^[2][3] In 1861, his family was living on Main Street and he was working as a gardener.^[4] In 1871 he was an agricultural laborer. Mary Ann Aubury was working as his housekeeper and her son was helping on the farm.^[5] The same household members were listed together in 1881.^[6] Charles and Mary Ann Aubury were married in the St. Ives registration district in the March Quarter of 1883.^[7] They were still farming in Somersham in 1891.^[8]
