Biography

Esther Church Phillips was born in November, 1895 [1] at Hanover, Massachusetts. [2][3][4] She was the daughter of Waldo Phillips and Letta Stetson. [3]

Esther never married. [3]

Born in Hanover, Massachusetts, she lived there most of her life:

  • 1900 - age 5, living with her parents and a brother in Hanover, Massachusetts [4]
  • 1920 - age 24, single, living with her parents and a brother and a sister on Hanover Street, Hanover Town, Massachusetts [5]
  • 1930 - age 33, single, living with her father and a housekeeper, Julia Nash, in a house on Hanover Street owned by her father (worth $4,000) in Hanover, Massachusetts. [6]
  • 1940 - age 44, single, living with her father, and his 2nd wife, Marion, on Spring Street in South Hanover, (Hanover Center), Massachusetts [7]
  • 1950 - age 54, single, living with her father and step-mother on Hanover Street, Hanover, Massachusetts [8]

She was the Special Assistant for the dining Car Service of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Rail Road, and a member of the American Council of Railroad Women. [3]

She passed away in May 1993, unmarried, age 98 at Rockland, Massachusetts. [10][1] She is buried with her parents at the Hanover Center Cemetery, Hanover, Massachusetts [11]
