Paul Pinnington was born in about 1817 in Eccleston, Lancashire. He was the son of Thomas Pinnington, a collier.

Paul married Margaret Lawrenson on 4 Nov 1838 at Farnworth Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. Both were of full age (21 or more) and neither had been married before. Paul lived in Sutton, Margaret in Prescot. Their fathers were named as Thomas Pinnington (collier) and William Lawrenson (collier). The witnesses were Charles Johnson and Ellen Johnson.

Their daughter Margaret was christened on 29 Sep 1839 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. Her father's occupation was recorded as collier, and the family's address as Eccleston.

By June 6th 1841, they were living in Springfield Row, Eccleston. Paul was working as a coal miner.

Their daughter Ann was christened on 25 Dec 1842 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. Her father's occupation was recorded as coal miner, and the family's address as Eccleston.
