Biography

Anna was born in 1880, the youngest of 6 children to Hardy Pitts and Mary Elizabeth Williamson. She was Hardy's youngest of 17 children, born when he was about 59 years old. Her siblings were: James Jackson, John H, Thomas Jefferson, Charles Anderson, and Mary Elizabeth; her half-siblings were: William M, Hardy W, Riley Bartley Sr, Benjamin Franklin, and Jane B, Ashley Jordan, Andrew Hardy, Nancy Emaline, Hezekiah Harrison, Leonnus Bowman, Dovie Alsa; her two adopted siblings were: Sarah Catherine Simmons and John Jackson Simmons; her 3 step-siblings were: Sarah Jane Davis, Nancy Susan Davis, and Nathaniel S Davis.
