Algernon Francis Plumptre was baptised on 2 April 1848 at Rectory House, Eastwood, Northamptonshire, England.^[1] He was the son of Reverend Henry Western Plumptre and Eleanor (Bridges) Plumptre.

He died on 4 August 1889 at age 41 at Hampstead, London, England, unmarried and is buried in St Mary's Cemetery in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire.^{[2][3][4] [5]}
