Biography

Emery was born in 1834 Randolph County, Virginia based on Census Records. He was the son of James Poling and Elizabeth Vannoy.

Emery married Catherine Gainer about 1853, probably in Barbour County, Virginia. No marriage Record has been found. Both are listed in the Death Record of their son, James Samuel Poling.

On 20 January 1859, Emery Poling signs an agreement with others that his uncle, David Poling, had been left out of the Will of Martin D. Poling by mistake.

On 3 December 1860, Emery Poling et. al. as heirs of Martin D. Poling dec'd sells his interest in 112 acres to M. B. Gainer.

On 13 September 1865, Emery Poling et. al. as heirs of Martin D. Poling dec'd sells his interest in 30 acres on Glady Creek to Isaac Gainer

On 14 September 1865, Emery Poling et. al. as heirs of Martin D. Poling dec'd sells his interest in 98 acres on Brushy Fork to Levi Gainer.

Emery died, probably in 1866, sometime before 18 Oct 1866 when the Appraisal of his Estate was made. A Sale Bill was made 20 October 1866.

A Deed written 30 September 1886 lists Catherine Poling widow of Emory Poling dec'd, Helen A Johnson and husband Levi, James S Poling and wife Eliza, L. S. Poling and wife G. E., Augusta Johnson and husband Robert F., A. E. Poling and Solomon T. Poling as children and heirs at law of Emory Poling dec'd. They grant a Deed to Ely Moore for Land on Teters Creek in the Glade District.
