Biography

"Norwood — Funeral services for Mrs. Phila P Claflin, 62, wife of Vernon Claflin, were held this morning in St. Andrew's Catholic Church with Rev. Francis J. Maguire, pastor, officiating. Burial was made in Brasher. Mrs. Claflin died at 5:10. p.m. Monday. Sept. 25, 1950 at her home, 50 Spring St., Norwood, following an illness of one week with a heart condition. She was born in Brasher Mar. 21, 1888, daughter of the late Marshall and Rose Ann Myers , Prashaw. In 1908 she was married to Venon Claflin in a ceremony performed in Brasher. They have lived in Norwood since 1926. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Freida Sampier of Norwood; one son, Ray Claflin, at home; and three sisters, Mrs. Nina Shallow of Massena; Mrs. Eugene (Katherine) Lawson Norfolk; and Mrs. Orville, (Minnie) Carney of Massena. She was a member of St. Andrew's Church in Not-wood and of the Altar Rosary Society."
