Biography

Joseph Gerald Prejean was born in 1932. He was the son of Joseph Prejean and Etta Hazlewood. He passed away in 2004.
OPELOUSAS-Services for Joseph Gerald Prejean, 71, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Galloway officating. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visiting hours were observed Sunday from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. and resumed today at 9 a.m. until the time of service at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home.
A resident of Opelousas, Mr. Prejean died Saturday, June 26, 2004, at Opelousas General Health System of Opelousas. Mr. Prejean was a past President of the Rotary Club and voted Rotarian of the year. He was also a Paul Harris fellow member of the Rotary.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Amy Prejean of Opelousas; a son, Joseph Gerald Prejean Jr. of Altanta; seven daughters, Julie Pittman of Slidell, Vicki Crim of Petal, Miss., Elizabeth Olsberg of Fredrickburg, Va., Patti Mitchel of Houma, Kelli Henderson, Shawn Slone and Lynette "Lynn" Gondron all of New Iberia; 21 grandchildren and 16 great-granchildren.
Mr. Prejean was preceded in death by his mother, Etta Hazelwood Prejean and father, Joseph Ewell Prejean.
Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas was in charge of the arrangements.
