Biography

Peter Prendergast was born in Ireland about 1755. No birth or baptism record appears, and his year of birth can only be estimated from the year of his marriage. His father is unknown. His mother was possibly Anne, known only from the marriage record of a Sarah Prendergast who may have been Peter's sister. [1] Nothing appears to verify her, other than both were married in Kingstown RC Parish, County Dublin, Ireland.

He married Elizabeth Kearney in Kingstown RC Parish, County Dublin on 5th January 1783. [2]

He was a sponsor at the 1786 baptism of Patrick Byrne, the son of his possible sister Rose (Prendergast) Byrne. [3]

Research Notes

Peter's possible mother Anne Prendergast, and his possible siblings Sarah, Catherine, Rose and Margaret need verification.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Peter by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Peter:

Could any of this extended family have wound up in America or down under? Many of the Irish family descendants hit a brick wall at the Atlantic seaboard because we have no idea exactly where the immigrating ancestors came from, only county if we are lucky.
