Edward Proctor was born in 1855. He was the son of Richard Proctor and Jane Morrow.
Christened 4 September 1855, Drumcree Parish Church, Northern Ireland.
He emigrated from Ireland and settled in Queensland, Australia.
Edward Proctor married Marion Elsemere Clemence on 17 October 1889 in Queensland, Australia.
On 10 June 1910 he was initiated into the Cloncurry Lodge, Lodge No: 3295, Cloncurry, Queensland, occupation - Police Sergeant. [1]
Edward Proctor died on 14th September 1944 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia [2] and was buried at the Lutwyche Cemetery.[3][4]
Edward Proctor was a Sergeant in the QLD Police Service (QPS) serving in: 01.12.1883 Brisbane, 10.01.1884 Maryborough, 06.11.1889 Gayndah, 08.01.1898 Bundaberg, 14.07.1898 Augathella, 26.11.1898 Jericho, 03.05.1905 Jundah, 22.03.1910 Cloncurry, 24.09.1915 Biggenden.
From QPS: 14.01.1909: Edward Proctor arrested the Jundah Police Tracker Bismarck, for the murder of Mrs. Janet Evitts near the Thomson River, Jundah.
Collar Number: 44 issued in 1915 while at Cloncurry.
Superannuated 22.05.1916.
04.04.1917: Presented with the Imperial Service Medal, at the Police Depot, Petrie Terrace, Brisbane.
27.01.1930: Mr H. Proctor-Mercer, C/- of The New Zealand Co-Operative Dairy Co. Ltd., Hamilton, Waikato, New Zealand, nephew of Edward Acton Gibbon Proctor writes to the Commissioner of Police inquiring as to the whereabouts of his uncle Edward as he has some news for him. He mentions that Edward and his brother had a sheep station in Canterbury, New Zealand prior to coming to Queensland and joining the Queensland Police. The nephew also says his uncle Edward is of the family of Edward Gibbon Wakefield, the founder of New Zealand.
