Biography

Albert Proctor was born in Lincolnshire, England.

Albert was born in 1876. He was the son of William Proctor and Maria Whelpton. Albert's birth was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1876 in the Spalding district.^[1]

Albert was living with his parents and siblings in Spalding, Lincolnshire in 1881, ^[2] and in 1891 age 15, he was employed as a Railway Porter, and was a boarder in the household of Caroline Wharton in Ordsall, Nottinghamshire.^[3]

In 1901 he was a boarder with George Hallam and his family in Foulby near Hemsworth, Yorkshire, ^[4] and in 1911 Albert moved with the Hallam family to Beeston, Leeds. He and George both worked on the Railway as Signalmen. ^[5]

On 17 June 1917 age 41, he married widow Alice Attley at St Bartholomew, Armley, Leeds Yorkshire, ^[6] and in 1921 they were living at 20 Simpson Street, Armley. He was working as a Train Controller for Great Northern Railway and living with them were Alice's two daughters from her previous marriage, Mary Ellen 19 and Lucy 10. ^[7] Before 1939 they moved to the Southgate area of London, Albert still employed as a Railway Train Controller. ^[8]

Albert of 39 Avondale Rd, Palmers Green, Middlesex died on 15 May 1949 and their estate passed probate on 25 August 1949 in London, to widow Alice Proctor.^{[9] [10] [11]}
