Biography

Ethelbert Proctor was born in Lincolnshire, England.

Ethelbert was born about 1887. He was the son of William Proctor and Maria Whelpton, and his birth was registered in the Jul-Aug-Sep quarter of 1887 in the Spalding district.^[1]

In 1891 ^[2] and 1901, Ethelbert was living with his parents and siblings in Spalding, Lincolnshire. ^[3]

By 1911 he was employed on the Railway as a Relief Porter, and was a boarder in the household of Susannah Williams in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. ^[4]

In 1914 he married Lilian Anna Naylor. The marriage was registered in the Jul-Aug-Sep quarter of 1914 in the Chesterfield district.^[5] They had a daughter Muriel born about 1916, however Lillian died in 1917, and he married a second time to Constance Stephenson in 1918, also registered in Chesterfield. ^[6]

In 1921 they were living in Kirkby Stephen, Westmorland, Midland Station House and Ethelbert (age 34), was now a Station Master. ^[7]

Ethelbert died on 1 November 1936 in Sheffield Royal Infirmary, and their estate passed probate on 7 January 1937 in Yorkshire, England. His last address was in Aldwarke Terrace, Rotherham ^{[8] [9] [10]} He was buried at Rawmarsh Cemetery, Rawmarsh. ^[11]
