Biography

Richard Proctor was born in Lincolnshire, England.

Richard was born in 1885. He was the son of William Proctor and Maria Whelpton, and his birth was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1885 in the Spalding district.^[1]

Richard was living with his parents and siblings in Spalding, Lincolnshire in 1891. ^[2] By 1901, age 18, he was a Journeyman Baker lodging with Charles Thos Gray a Baker & Confectioner in Oundle, Northamptonshire, ^[3] and in 1911 age 26, a Grocer Manager, lodging with William S Whitmore in Leicester, Leicestershire.^[4]

In WW1 Richard was a Gunner in the Royal Garrison Artillery. His service number was 3462021. He was living in Darley Street, Leicester when he joined up. He served in France in 1916 and 1917, and was dischared in 1918 due to injury to his hand. ^{[5] [6] [7]}

Richard (age 34), son of William Proctor, married Isabella Ion Hebson (age 36) on 27 December 1919 in Gosforth, Northumberland, ^[8] and in 1921 they were back in Leicester, and Richard was a Grocers Warehouseman. ^[9]

In the 1939 register Richard (age 54), Shopkeeper Furniture & Grocer, was the married head of household at 25, Keythorpe Street, Leicester. ^[10]

Richard died on 25 May 1951 in Leicester, England and their estate passed probate on 24 July 1951 in Leicester, to widow Isabella Ion Proctor. ^{[11] [12]}
