Biography

Sarah was born about 1846. She was the daughter of Isaac Prosser and Diana Kees.

She was living with her parents in Rome, Oneida, New York in 1850.^[1] In 1855 and 1860, she was living with her family in Ava in Oneida county.^[2][3]

She married George Thurston when she was 16. They had one daughter, Lulu May (Thurston) Tuttle.

Sarah and George were living in Ava in 1865.^[4] They were in Whitestown in Oneida in 1875.^[5]

She passed away in 1903 in Rome, Oneida, New York. Her obituary, published in the Rome Daily Sentinel gave more details of her life:^[6]

"Mrs. Sarah Thurston.

Mrs. Sarah Thurston, aged 55 years, died here from general debility at 3:30 a. m. today. She was born in Ava, her maiden name being Sarah Prosser. When 12 years old she came to Rome to live with her cousin, Mrs. David Selden. At 16 she married George Thurston, who died three years ago at Quaker Hill. For many years she lived at Whitestown, removing to Ava in 1889 and later to Western. Mrs; Thurston keenly felt the shock of her husband's death, which came suddenly from heart disease, and had failed in bodily and mental strength. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Harry Tuttle of Ilion."
