John Quarles is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A092946.

John was born in 1748. He passed away in 1818. (son of Aaron Quarles and Ann Catherine Tunstall)

Col. Quarles and his wife Susanna came to Woodford County in 1789 and settled in the vicinity of Pisgah Church. He represented Woodford County in the lower branch of the Legislature in 1796." ("History of Woodford County," page 341). He became a promenent lawyer in Kentucky, was given a negroe boy named Hurculas in his fathers will in 1771. He was known as Col. Quarles and served in the Revelutionary war. I

His name is in some doubt. In his will and in other documents he signs himself Tunstall Quarles. Some of his descendants are positive his full name was John Tunstall Quarles. Collin's history of Kentucky mentions a John Tunstal Quarles, member of Legislature in 1817. This may have been his son. Tunstall Quarles' will was dated 1817 and probated in Woodford County, Ky.
