Judith Rayner was the daughter of Rev. John Rayner, minister of Plymouth, Massachusetts, and Dover, New Hampshire, and his second wife Frances Clarke. Her cited age (99) at death would have her born about 1637-8, but it may have been later; "Torrey" cites that her parents' marriage was "by 1642," and lists a birth year for Judith of "1658," although that could be an assumption based on her marriage year of "by 1678."[1][2][3][4][5][6]
She married first by 1678, Jabez Fox, son of Thomas Fox, then of Cambridge, Massachusetts. They soon settled in Woburn, Massachusetts, where Jabez became minister of Woburn's First Church. They had five children. Rev. Jabez died February 28, 1702-3.[1][2][4]
She married second, Col. Jonathan Tyng, a recent settler in Woburn, formerly of Boston, and a member of the Council of Gov. Sir Edmund Andros. Jonathan's first wife, Sarah, had died in Woburn on February 8, 1714. Col. Jonathan died January 19, 1724, at the age of 81. It can be assumed that the marriage occurred sometime between 1714 and 1723, and that were no children.[1][2][7][8][9]
Judith (Rayner-Fox) Tyng died in Woburn on June 5, 1736 ("in ye 99th Year of her Age" - gravestone).[1][2][10] She was buried at the First Burial Ground in Woburn, Massachusetts, where her gravestone reads:[6][11]
