Margaret was born 9 October 1816 in the Steele Creek section of Mecklenburg County. She was the daughter of William Rea and Hannah Berryhill.
Margaret married Taylor Hamilton Berryhill on 15 May 1832 in Mecklenburg County. An Alfonso A. Berryhill was a bondman on the bond. This Alfonso may have used an alias per editorials to a Charlotte newspaper in the 1830s.
Margaret's husband, Taylor, may have died before 1840 as a Mrs. Margaret Berryhill appears in the census of that year.
The Mecklenburg (North Carolina) Times, 15 November 1889, p. 3:
Mrs. Margaret Rodden is critically ill with pneumonia at this writing.
