Biography
Bartholomew was born 1 Oct 1785[1]in Freeport, Maine[2]. The Maine State Archives has certified his date of birth in 1785 as shown in images, not 1784 as has been recorded in error in some places.
Bartholomew and Silvia had 9 children, Bartholomew (1808-1850), Lemuel (1809-1883), David (1811-1888), Sylvia Reed Cummings (1813-1865), John J. (1818-1869), Annie J. Reed Fellows(1820-1895), Geditha (1823-1911), Elizabeth Reed Reed (1825-before 1900), Lucinda Reed Appleman (1829-1895).
He died in 1846 in Polk Township, Galion, Crawford, Ohio[3]and is buried in Blooming Grove Cemetery, Morrow County, Ohio[4].

↑ Elizabeth Jackson Reed, Lemuel J. Reed Family Bible. The family heirloom bible has been handed down since 1885 to their daughter Maryann J. Reed Cloak, eldest surviving child, down to her descendants and the descendants of the Aiken family. Electronic copies obtained by Denise Moore from cousin Wendall Auck consisted of 4 pages including a copy of the monogramed cover of the bible monogramed with Lemuel J. Reed. One single page listed births and two separate pages listed some deaths. All entries appear to be in the same handwriting, that of Elizabeth Jackson Reed. The bible did not contain the date of her death in 1885 where she left off making entries.
