Edward was born 16 Mar 1875 in Rice County, Kansas. He was the son of Norman Reed and Candis Smith.

In 1880 he was living in Washington, Rice, Kansas.^[1] The household included Norman Reed age 46, wife Candis A Reed age 36, son Alfred G Reed age 16, son Benjamin E Reed age 14, daughter Dellia A Reed age 9, son William P Reed age 7, son Edward N Reed age 6, daughter Rosa Reed age 2, daughter Clarrisa Reed age 4 months and James Caskey age 30. Norman, Alfred and Benjamin were born in Illinois. Candis and James were born in Indiana. Everyone else was born in Illinois. Alfred and Benjamin were farmers. James was a school teacher.

In 1885 he was living in Rockville Township, Rice, Kansas.^[2] The household included Norman Reed age 51, Candis Reed age 40, Delia Reed age 14, Willie Reed age 13, Eddie Reed age 11, Rosa Reed age 9, Clara Reed age 6, Nellie Reed age 3 and Norman Reed age 1. Norman was born in Illinois, Candis in Indiana and the children in Kansas. Norman was a farmer. William and Barbara Bland lived next door.

In 1895 he was living in Raymond, Rice, Kansas.^[3] The household included Norman Reed age 61, C A Reed age 50, Will Reed age 21, Ed Reed age 18, Rosie Reed age 16, Clessy Reed age 14, Nelley Reed age 12, Norma Reed age 10 and Mertie Reed age 8. Norman was a farmer.

In 1900 he was living in Rockville Township, Rice, Kansas.^[4] The household included Norman Reed age 67, wife Candis Reed age 56, son Edward Reed age 24, daughter Clara Reed age 21, daughter Nellie Reed age 19, son Norman Reed Jr age 17, and daughter Myrtle Reed age 16. Norman was born in Illinois; Candis was born in Indiana; the children were all born in Kansas. Norman was a farmer. Candis was the mother of 8 children, all living. Edward and Norman Jr were doing farm work and the daughters were doing housework.

Edward Reed and Cordia M Trenary were married 12 Jan 1901 in Woods, Oklahoma.^[5] Her father Jacob Trenary gave permission for the marriage, as she was age 17.

In 1910 he was living in Fritzlen, Woods, Oklahoma.^[6] The household included Edward Reed age 36 born in Kansas, wife Corda Reed age 26 born in Illinois, father Norman Reed age 66 born in Illinois and mother Arminta Reed age 65 born in Illinois. Edward was a farmer. Cordia had no children. Arminta was the mother of 8 children, all living.

He registered for the World War I draft in Barber, Kansas.^[7] He was a farmer working for George Smith. His nearest relative was Cordia Reed.

In 1920 he was living in Elwood, Barber, Kansas.^[8] The household included Edward Reed age 44 born in Kansas, wife Cordia Reed age 36 born in Illinois and niece Opal Trenary age 5 born in Oklahoma. Edward was a rural route mail carrier. John Trenary lived next door.

In 1930 he was living in Hardtner, Barber, Kansas.^[9] The household included Ed Reed age 55 born in Kansas, wife Cordia Reed age 46 born in Illinois and boarder John Wilson age 42 born in Scotland. Ed and John were both carpenters working in a shop.

In 1940 he was living in Hardtner, Elwood Township, Barber, Kansas.^[10] The household included Edward Reed age 65 born in Kansas and wife Cordia Reed age 57 born in Illinois. Edward was a manager as a non-resident landlord.

An unsourced Ancestry tree suggests that he died 6 Feb 1962 in Hardtner, Barber, Kansas.
