Biography

Norman was born 2 Jan 1883 in Saxman, Rice, Kansas. He was the son of Norman Reed and Candis Smith.

In 1885 he was living in Rockville Township, Rice, Kansas.[1] The household included Norman Reed age 51, Candis Reed age 40, Delia Reed age 14, Willie Reed age 13, Eddie Reed age 11, Rosa Reed age 9, Clara Reed age 6, Nellie Reed age 3 and Norman Reed age 1. Norman was born in Illinois, Candis in Indiana and the children in Kansas. Norman was a farmer. William and Barbara Bland lived next door.

In 1895 he was living in Raymond, Rice, Kansas.[2] The household included Norman Reed age 61, C A Reed age 50, Will Reed age 21, Ed Reed age 18, Rosie Reed age 16, Clessy Reed age 14, Nelley Reed age 12, Norma Reed age 10 and Mertie Reed age 8. Norman was a farmer.

In 1900 he was living in Rockville Township, Rice, Kansas.[3] The household included Norman Reed age 67, wife Candis Reed age 56, son Edward Reed age 24, daughter Clara Reed age 21, daughter Nellie Reed age 19, son Norman Reed Jr age 17, and daughter Myrtle Reed age 16. Norman was born in Illinois; Candis was born in Indiana; the children were all born in Kansas. Norman was a farmer. Candis was the mother of 8 children, all living. Edward and Norman Jr were doing farm work and the daughters were doing housework.

In 1905 he was living in Rice, Kansas.[4] The household included Norman Reed age 72 born in Illinois, Candis Reed age 60 born in Indiana, and Norma (sic) Reed age 22 born in Kansas.

Norman Reed and Louisa Worthington were married about 1906.

In 1910 he was living in Fritzlen, Woods, Oklahoma.[5] The household included Normie Reed age 27, wife Louisa Reed age 21 and daughter Velma Reed age 1, all born in Kansas. Norman was a farmer. Louisa was the mother of 3 children 1, living. Norman and Louisa had been married 4 years.

Wife Louisa died sometime at or after 28 Mar 1911.

Normie Reed and Lura Schambach were married 05 Apr 1917 in Alva, Woods, Oklahoma.[6] Both were residents of Hardtner, Kansas.

He registered for the World War I draft in Barber, Kansas.[7] He was a clerk at Hardtner Supply Company. His nearest relative was Lura Reed.

In 1920 he was living in Elwood, Barber, Kansas.[8] The household included Norman C Reed age 37 born in Kansas, wife Lura E Reed age 21 born in Missouri and son Virgil L Reed age 1 born in Kansas. Norman was a salesman at a grocery.

In 1925 he was living in Hardtner, Barber, Kansas.[9] The household included Norman Reed age 42, wife Lura Reed age 26, son Lester Reed age 13 and son Virgil Reed age 6. All were born in Kansas except Lura born in Missouri. Norman was a clerk.

In 1930 he was living in Stella, Alfalfa, Oklahoma.[10] The household included Normie Reed age 45, wife Lura Reed age 30, son Virgil Reed age 11 and daughter Betty Ruth Reed age 2. All were born in Kansas except Lura born in Missouri. Norman was a farmer on a wheat farm.

In 1940 he was living in Lake Township, Vernon, Vernon, Missouri.[11] The household included Normy Reed age 57 born in Kansas, wife Lura Reed age 41 born in Missouri and daughter Betty Ruth Reed age 12 born in Kansas. The family lived in the same house in 1935.

He registered for the World War II draft in Richards, Missouri.[12] He was a farmer. Edward Reed, Hardtner Kansas, was his nearest relative.

He died 23 Jan 1971 in Cabool, Texas, Missouri.[13]

He is buried in Newton Burial Park, Nevada, Vernon County, Missouri.[14]
