Eskew Reeder, Jr., usually known by the stage name Esquerita, and also S.Q. Reeder or The Magnificient Malochi, was an American R&B singer, songwriter and pianist known for his frenetic performances. He has been credited with influencing rock and roll pioneer Little Richard.
He got his start as an entertainer at the age of seven, performing in a school performance of 'The Season of Happiness.'[1]
By 1965 Eskew was in New York, entering a competition at the Long Island Fair that aimed to beat the world record length of time playing the piano.[2]
Eskew Reeder was born in in Greenville, South Carolina, November 20, 1933. He died in Harlem, New York on October 23, 1986.[3][4]
