Andrew was born about 1815, in South Carolina, USA. He moved to Alabama early in his life.
Between 1850 and 1853, Andrew married Margaret Smith. They had six children:
Mary E. (Reeves) Dutton
Caroline C. (Reeves) Loggins
Andrew J. Reeves
Dicey A. Reeves
George W. Reeves
Francis M. Reeves
The family moved to the Eastern Subdivision of Blount County, Alabama, by 1860. Andrew was a farmer, with real estate worth $150 and personal estate worth $200.[1]
Military Service
Andrew was one of the many men who enlisted during the American Civil War, serving in Company H of the 12th Alabama Infantry Regiment.[2]
Pvt. Andrew Reeves served in the United States Civil War. Mustered out: September 19, 1864 Side: CSA Regiment(s): Company H, 12th Alabama Regiment
He was shot through his left leg, just below the knee joint, in 1864,[3] rendering him unable to work. He was discharged on September 19, 1864. Andrew presumably died shortly after, as he no longer appears in any subsequent census records.
Notes
Andrew seemingly appears alive in his pension application in 1887. I suspect that this is not the case. Andrew likely died after the war, leaving Peggy unable to apply for a widow's pension.
