Biography

Solomon was born 2/19/1845. He passed away 1/10/1909.

Solomon's father was German and never learned to speak English. Born in Ohio, his mother died when he was 2 years old. Solomon died at age 64 of a stroke.

The census of 6/28/1870 shows Solomon Ricksecker as a farmer owning $7,000 real property and $2,000 personal property. One source shows his father, Christian, as from Germany and another source as Switzerland. Solomon's mother died when he was 2 years old. His mother was born in 1825. Solomon and Alcinda had nine children, three; Lizzie Beatrice, Ray and Jesse, had no children. Ottie and Ollie were twins.

It is thought that Solomon's father's surname was Ruegsegger and when he came to America it was Americanized to Ricksecker.

Solomon died at the age of 63 on 10 January 1909, Reno Co, Kansas.[1]

Solomon was buried after 10 January 1909 in Hutchinson,[1] Reno Co, Kansas. Note: Sol Ricksecker, a well known farmer living six miles west of the city (Hutchinson) died at the farm home (Salt Creek Township) yesterday morning of paralysis. He had not been so very well of late years and has suffered before with strokes. He was 63 years old and came to this county about thirty years ago. He was therefore very well known all over the county and will be missed by his many friends. The funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock from the farm home. Hutchinson Daily News: Monday, 1/11/1909, p5.

Solomon was born on an unknown date at 19 FEB 1845. Stark Co, Ohio. He was the son of Christian (Ruegsegger) Ricksecker and Julia Marchand.[2]

Marriage 18 MAR 1875. Huntingburg, Indiana. Presumably to Alcinda
