Biography

Catherine Anna Rittenburg was born on November 17, 1798 in Albany, New York. Her father Michael Rittenburgh was 26 and her mother Mary Anna Van Dusen was 23. She married Harvey St John about 1817. They had ten known children during their marriage of which three are listed below. She passed away on February 20, 1879 in Saltfleet Twp, Wentworth Co, Ontario, Canada having lived a long life of 80 some years. I get the sense that they separated sometime after Russell's birth in 1840 as Harvey is listed by himself on the 1850 US Census in 0hio & in 1860 in Cayuga Co.,New York as having a Farm. She appears on the 1861 Canadian Census with son Russell b1840. (Harvey & Catherine are this writers (Gene Stephan) GGG/grandparents) [1]
