Biography
Martha was born in 1824. She was the daughter of Daniel Roberts and Betsy Keyser. She passed away in 1885.
She was named in the 1846 will of her father, Daniel Roberts: "I also give and bequeath unto my son James Roberts and daughters Susan Carr, Caroline Clinton and Martha Ellison and my grandson James Roberts son of John Roberts deceased the following described negro slaves to wit. Peter a boy, Biddy a woman wife of Peter, Willis a boy and Nella a woman wife of Willis and Phebe a girl child of Nella and Willis to be equally divided between the before mentioned children and grandson James Roberts." [1]
She married Augustus Holloway Ellison on 12 Sep 1839 in Winston County, Mississippi. [2]
