On 27 February 1849 James Robinson was born to Jane and William Robinson. [1]
On 16 September 1874 Lucy Parkes from Motueka and James Robinson were married at Big Bush, Blenheim. [2]

James ran a flax mill in what is now known as Spring Creek, and another at the North Bank, Wairau Valley. He also worked 100 acres willed to him when his father died, and had racing stables
On 18 July 1919 James Robinson passed away in Nelson, aged 70 [4]. He is buried in the Omaka Cemetery. His wife Lucy died on 2 March 1926.
