While I agree this is the same person, the issue of her family name is still perplexing. My reference came from another database. If one looks closely at the mariage record of 1832 it is clear that her name is not Ross but appears to be Rofs. Handwriting is difficult however there are other examples of consecutive "ss" in the text elsewhere and it is not transcribed in the same manner. Is this a mistake by the priest or documenter? The fact that we have no birth or parental record propagates the mystery surrounding both of these ancestors (Mary and Antoine).

The "fs" handwriting is something I've seen several times before in handwritten records (not just New Brunswick church records) to represent a double s "ss". So her name is Ross, as we can see in several of her children's records as well. Census records seem to indicate she was born in New Brunswick, but there aren't any Ross baptisms in the New Brunswick church records as early as 1807. There is a William Ross who married Bridget Meligan in 1828 in Nelson (the parish where Mary married Antoine). Maybe he is a relative, but we can only really speculate.
Menard-1531 and Ross-31160 appear to represent the same person because: It isn't clear where the name Marie-Rose Menard came from, but it appears that this profile was created to represent the wife of Antoine Deschênes. His wife's name was actually Marie Ross.

I can just detach Menard-1531 from her spouse for now, but I still think it makes the most sense to eventually merge her into Ross-31160. Rodney (who created Menard-1531) doesn't seem to have any additional information on her and agrees she was meant to represent the wife of Antoine Deschênes. I don't think it's ideal to leave single unconnected profiles floating around on WikiTree :)
