Biography

This profile is part of the Rowland Name Study.

John Rowlands was born in 1781 in Wales. He was baptized on 24 Mar 1781 at Tregynon, Montgomeryshire, Wales.

DNA: No known direct paternal line descendants have taken a Y-DNA test. Therefore, this line is currently classified as one of the Untested Rowland Lines.

John Rowlands married Anne Jones on 16 May 1809 at Guilsfield, Montgomeryshire, Wales. [1] They had 8 children:

  3. John Rowlands
  4. Thomas Jones Rowlands
  5. Elizabeth (Rowlands) Thomas
  6. Jane Rowlands
  7. Margaret Rowlands
  8. William Rowlands
In June 1842, the greater number of both the Rowlands and Jones families decided to leave Wales for America. In Liverpool they boarded the sailing vessel, "Eliza Dennison". John's wife, Ann Jones Rowlands, died aboard ship and was buried at sea.

He passed away in 1850 in Delaware County, Ohio. [2]
