Myrtle B. Rowlison was born 22 May 1902 in Cedar Valley, Wayne, Ohio, the daughter of George W. Rowlison and Agnes C. Dunham. [1]
In 1910, the Rowlison family lived in their rented house at 425 Washington, Circleville, Pickaway, Ohio. The family included George W. Rowlison, 38, born in Michigan, an Evangelical Church minister; his wife of fifteen years, Agnes C., 35, born in New York, who had had four children, all of whom were living; their children, the eldest three in school: Ernest, 14, b. Michigan; Sylvester, 10, b. MI; Myrtle, 7, b. Ohio; and Adella, 6, b. OH.[2]
In 1920, the Rowlison family lived in a rented house in Graviot County, Michigan. The household included George W. Rowlison, 48, a Baptist clergyman; his wife, Agnes C., 45; their children, Sylvester A., 20, a telegraph lineman; Myrtle B., 17, in school; and Adella M., 15, in school.[3]
Milo Brillinger, 21, and Myrtle B. Rowlison, 19, were married on 16 July 1921 in Wayland, Allegan, Michigan. Milo was born in Reed City, Michigan, the son of William Brillinger and Anna Edwards. Myrtle was born in Cedar Springs, Ohio, the daughter of George Rowlison and Agnes C. Durham. [4]
Their son, Miles Brillinger, was born 17 June 1923. He died, aged 3, 12 October 1926 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was the son of Milo Brillinger and Myrtle Rowlison. [5]
In 1930, the Brillinger family lived at 1134 Crescent St., Grand Rapids, Kent, Michigan. They owned their house, valued at $3500. The family included Milo Brillinger, 30, born in Michigan, an oil burner serviceman, not a veteran, who married at age 21; his wife, Myrtle, 27, born in Ohio, who married at 19; and their daughter, Norma, 3, born in Michigan. The Brillinger home at 1134 Crescent St., Grand Rapids, Michigan is located in the Midtown area of the city. It was built in 1928, has six rooms, 1020sf, a woodframe structure with a masonry foundation. [7]
Myrtle married John Vos.
Mrs. John Vos is mentioned in then obituary of her father, George W. Rowlison, who died on 1 June 1951 in Michigan. [8]
Mrs. Myrtle Vos, of Grandville, Michigan, and Mrs. Adella Rider, of Grand Rapids, are mentioned in the death record of their brother, Arley S. Rowlison, who died 13 October 1965 in Butterworth Hospital (Grandville, MI). Arley was buried at Pinehill Cemetery. [9] NOTE: this record may indicate that the sisters were both widows (as their given names are listed), and gives their place of residence in 1956.
Myrtle B. Vos died at age 70, and is buried at Rest Lawn Memorial Park, Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was the wife of John Vos, and the mother of Norma, Marilyn, Jane, Howard, and Roger. [10]
Myrtle apparently divorced her first husband, Milo Brillinger (1900 MI-1976 MI), because she remarried to John Vos, sometime between 1930 and 1951; and her first husband died in 1976.
