Biography

Rebecca was born in Warialda in New South Wales, on the 20th June 1859, to parents Richard Rowlison and Ann Elizabeth Moore.[1]

Her father was the Chief Constable at Wariada, and she had her real name on the registration - as in "Rebecca Rowlison". Her father is noted to be "John Rowlison Elmer" and her mother Ann Elizabeth Elmer - formally Moore. On BDM she is registered as Elmer. Her birth certificate notes that at the time of registration she had

At the time of the registration of her birth, she had three siblings (all registered as "Elmer") one sibling being deceased.

She was baptised on the 7th August 1859 by the Rev. Rowe at Warialda as Rebecca Rowlison.

She married William Samuel Bowden at Tamworth, on the 6th January 1880, [2] and they lived at Ogunbil, near Dungowan for many years. They had 7 children together, and she passed away on the 3rd July 1922 from cancer of the gallbladder.

She was buried on the 4th July 1922, in the Church of England Section of the West Tamworth Cemetery.[3][1]

My grandmother, Georgina Patricia Maclean (nee Hartigan) would always talk about her lovely long hair, and that she played the accordion.

All photos that I have loaded in connection to the Rowlinson's were copied from Rebecca Bowden (Rowlinson) photo album - which belonged to my grandmother, Georgina Maclean (Hartigan). I copied them prior to the album being lent to a family member who never returned it. My grandmother wanted me to have it after she passed. If anyone has this album in their possession - or knows who has, I would love to have it returned. Please contact me if you have any information you can give to me. Regards, Catriona
