Biography

Barnett was born about 1800 in Jefferson, Schoharie, New York.^{[citation needed]} He was the son of Obadiah Ruland and Maria Mary Shelmandine.^{[citation needed]}

He married Almena Bond.^{[citation needed]}

In 1855 he was living in New York. Five sons, Orrin, 23; Mason, 14; Jacob, 12; Oscar, 9; Bennett, 2; and a 19 year old daughter, (V*T) also lived with their parents. In 1860 he was farming for a living. His household consisted of himself and his wife and four sons, Alanson, 19; Jacob. 17; Oscar, 15; and Calvin, 10.
