Biography

Caroline was born in 1841 in Islington, Middlesex the daughter of Thomas Prentice Rutt and Mary (Deacon) Rutt.^[1]

1841 Census on the 6th June 1841 Caroline was living in Islington, Middlesex with her parents Thomas and Mary and her siblings Thomas and Arthur.^[2]

1851 Census on the 30th March 1851 Caroline was living at 8 Canonbury Place, Islington, Middlesex with her parents Thomas and Mary and her siblings Thomas, Ellen, Walter, Mary, Hannah and Alfred.^[3]

1861 Census on the 7th April 1861 Caroline was living with her parents Thomas and Mary and her siblings Thomas, Walter, Mary, Hannah, Alfred and Frederick in Saint Marys Islington, Middlesex.^[4]

Caroline married her cousin Henry Deacon in 1866 and the marriage was registered in Islington, Middlesex, England.^[5][6]

1871 Census on the 2nd April 1871 Caroline was living at Appleton House, 65 Appleton Street, Widnes, Lancashire with her husband Henry and their children Charles, Stuart, Caroline and Benford. Caroline's step-daughters Emma and Esther were also living there.^[7]

In 1876 her husband died.

In 1880 Caroline's father Thomas Rutt died and she inherited one ninth of his estate, under the name of Caroline Deacon.

1881 Census on the 3rd April 1881 Caroline was living in Highcliffe Mansions, Holdenhurst, Hampshire, England as an annuitant. Caroline's step-son Henry Wade Deacon (28) born in Widnes, Lancashire was a visitor.^[8]

1911 Census on the 2nd April 1911 Caroline was a widow, living with her step-son Henry Wade Deacon in Toxteth Park, Liverpool, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom.^[9]

Caroline, of 8 Ullett Road, Liverpool, Lancashire, died aged 79 on the 19th January 1920 and her death was registered in Toxteth Park, Lancashire.^[10][11]

Probate of Caroline's estate, £2281 11s. 3d., was processed on the 20th April 1920 in Liverpool, Lancashire and passed to her step-son Henry Wade Deacon J.P., and to her son Stuart Deacon a barrister.^[12]
