Biography

Joseph was born in 1864.^[1] He was the son of William Satterfield and Susan Huff.^[2][3][4]

He was married to Josie E Rudasill in 1884.^[5][6][7] Their children are:^[5][8]

• William Joseph "Joe" Satterfield

Joseph was appointed Postmaster of the Post Office in Macedonia which is in Cherokee County, Georgia on December 24, 1889.^[9] On February 5, 1892 he was made Postmaster in Joe which is also in Cherokee County, Georgia.^[10] He was reappointed on June 28, 1895.^[11] He was still working there as late as June 9, 1905.^[10]

in 1895 he happened to be traveling when the Atlanta Directory was made and he was listed as "traveling".^[12]

Even though Joseph's tombstone's death date at Southview Cemetery in Canton at Cherokee County, Georgia is November 24, 1920^[1] his death certificate states he died on November 25, 1920^[2]

He signed his will on March 22, 1920 and made his son W. J. Satterfield, and son-in-law R T Poole his executors. It was probated on May 3, 1920 in Cherokee County, Georgia then recorded May 14 1920. In his will he left his wife their home in Holly Springs, Cherokee County, Georgia; land lots 445, 492, and 373 containing 170 acres in District 15 of Cherokee County; two lots in the Holly Springs town center; lots 11, 12, and 13 in Crestview area in the town of Canton which is Cherokee County; and a house and lot in South Canton. This was all to be used in her lifetime even if she remarried. To his son W. J. Satterfield he left $1,000 in cash in lieu of yearly support. He is offered the family home after if mother dies but he must pay his sister Azzie $500 upon possession. If he decides against the home then it's to be sold and the money split between the two siblings. To his daughter Azzie he left his share in the 'Stare' house located in the town of Holly Springs along with 1/2 interest of the lot in back of the residence, including barn, stall, house, garden, and orchard. ^[13][14]
